Hey folks! Lots of news to report.
Wilma’s come and gone, and good riddance. The Panhandle of Florida, hit hard by Ivan in ’04, was spared this latest hurricane, and that’s where we begin our winter-long circumnavigation of Florida. Our next two books, “Wild Florida Islands” and the “Florida Beach Access Guide” (both for University Press of Florida), will keep us on the road and on the water until April, 06.
Just in time for our trip is the “Bill & Mary Tracker” (trademark pending). It’s a web log we will use to stay in touch, entertain friends and family, and inform fellow travelers. The address is new and easy-to-remember: www.FloridaPaddling.com.
Look for posts and photos weekly (or whenever we have good Internet access). We encourage you to post a hello, comment or question. Check it often for reports on the best of Florida’s wild islands, beaches, campgrounds, paddle-friendly lodgings and local watering holes.
So what else is going on?
* Great news on the Florida Keys Overseas Paddling Trail: Maps and a description are now on the state’s website! http://www.dep.state.fl.us/gwt/paddling/Segments/Segment15/Segment%2015.htm

Happy Trails!
